If you've ever admired an aerialist gracefully spinning inside a suspended steel hoop, you've already met Aerial Hoop—also known as Lyra. Combining strength, flexibility, artistry, and a little bit of courage, Aerial Hoop allows you to climb, balance, spin, invert, and pose your way through one of the most beautiful aerial disciplines.
At Altitude, our beginner-friendly Aerial Hoop classes are designed for students of every fitness level. Whether you're looking to build strength, improve flexibility, express your creativity, or simply discover a workout you'll actually look forward to, Lyra offers an unforgettable experience that feels more like play than exercise.
From your very first class, you'll begin building confidence while learning beautiful shapes, graceful transitions, and exciting new skills—all at your own pace.

Common Beginner Worries
Maybe you're wondering...
"Will the hoop spin?"
Sometimes! We use both static and spinning hoops, depending on the class and the skills you're learning.
"Do I need good upper body strength?"
No! You'll build strength naturally as you learn. Every student starts somewhere, and our instructors provide modifications for all ability levels.
"Is Aerial Hoop easier than Silks?"
They're simply different. Hoop emphasizes balance, body positioning, and poses on a solid apparatus, while Silks focuses more on climbing, wrapping, and fabric techniques.
"Can complete beginners take Lyra?"
Absolutely! No dance, gymnastics, aerial, or fitness experience is required.
Why Choose Hoop Instead of Other Aerial Classes?
Unlike fabric apparatuses, Aerial Hoop provides a solid steel apparatus that allows students to focus on body positioning, balance, and beautiful shapes. Many students love Lyra Hoop because they can create stunning poses without needing to climb long lengths of fabric.
If Silks feels adventurous and Sling feels flowing, Hoop feels elegant, playful, and just a little magical.
At Altitude, our progressive curriculum makes learning Aerial Hoop approachable for everyone. Whether your goal is fitness, artistry, performance, or simply trying something you've always admired from afar, we'll help you discover just how capable you really are.
